Looks as if it might be the same as in The O.C.: /vehicle_22516-Land-Rover-Defender-90-1995.html |

It might not be exactly the same car, this one has a winch at the front, the other doesn't. Otherwise they are very similar. Isn't the Defender a rare car in the US? The Jeep Wrangler is like their version of the car. |

Yes the Land Rover Defender is rare in the States, and for their age, they are still quite expensive. Land Rover stopped selling the Defender in the States after 1997. People conjure up plenty of reasons as to why, but I’m afraid in the end, the only reason was due to our government’s strict laws regarding safety air bags and Land Rover either didn’t want to abide by the laws or they simply couldn’t. -- Last edit: 2006-12-03 22:17:27 |

Yes, America does have same stringent safety regulations that mean some Eurpean cars have to modified (Some 80s BMWs had to have these strange bumpers), but are US cars really safer than European ones? |

No, American cars are not safer than European cars. In my opinion they are about the same. |
◊ 2006-12-03 22:48 |
That's why some of these regulations they seem to have with imported cars don't seem to make much sense. |
