Gamecock [CK3] 3-4 Tons

Probably Karrier 3-4 Tons with Yorkshire street cleaning tank and sprinkler.

edit: Gamecock name only introduced with the QX based cab.

September 1952 Commercial Motor

"An underfloor-engined 3-4-tonner, named the Gamecock and a 14-seat passenger vehicle have been added to the Karrier range and both will be exhibited at Earls Court. The Gamecock has a six-cylinder overhead-valve engine which is common to the Commer range, but develops 85 b.h.p. This model replaces the CK3 in all industrial and municipal applications."

From 1945 Karrier CK3 3-4 ton spec. sheet. Link to "rootesandrelated.com"

"Normal spec. 15" dia. x 4.33" rims wheels

Gully/street cleaning, cesspit equipped versions or for other than local transport then 20"dia. x 4.33" rims wheels are fitted at extra charge."

With 750 gallons water or over 3 tons load with the wheels & tyres uprated for the extra vehicle equipment weight. This is in the days well before the trucks loading was tightly controlled.

Thats interesting Sunbar, 15in to 20in wheels a big change .
This picture a perfect illustration then of the big wheel application to 'Gully/street cleaning, cesspit equipped versions'

From pictures seen the large dome on the top of the tank is part of the gulley emptying arm and suction pipe.

Its possible the truck is either dual purpose (with the suction arm removed and the tank cleaned) for both gulley emtying and street cleaniing duties or its been specifically built for street cleaning only and the arm never fitted.
