With some risk I'll date it on 1979 too. EDIT: According to this website first ten pre-serial cars arrived on the test track in the late 1978, so 1978 is the oldest possibility. Also Leyland called its projects at this stage of development the "FEP" (Fully-Engineered Prototype) - same was with ADOs 88. Here are listed the FEPs/pre-serial cars with headlights/indicators used later in the cheaper Metros: (last thumb - 1978 MY+ Starlet in the background, so 1978/79).
