The NYPD never used 1971 Ford's as radio motor patrol cars. Should have painted it like an Auxillary Police car or a Port Authority Police car.

This was meant to be a fake cop car used by the thieves in one of their heists.

It did show how easy it is to make a regular car like that into a real police car, all you need is:

. A car that the cops would use (in this case, a Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Bel Air etc.).

. Police emergency lights for the roof (in this case, two red light blubs (one of each in two clear light covers) with two red lights next to the lights).

. A police CB radio with microphone and police scanner.

. Police decals (eg. Police logos (in this case, it would be two NYPD logos (one of each on the driver-side and front passenger-side doors) and a car number as well a police station (or precinct) number).

. The right colours for the car to match the real police cars (in this case, it would be a light NYPD blue with two white pin-stripes (one on either side) as well as a white roof).

. The right number plates for a marked police car (in this case, the number plates for a light blue NYPD car is white on a light blue background displaying the car's police number and the words; "NYC Police" in white capital letters at the bottom).
