This is my old 1973 Triumph GT6 Mk III. She was a beauty to look at, and *when* it ran, was a great driving car. I owned it in the late 70's and sold it around 1982. I answered an ad in The Montreal Gazette newspaper asking for people with British cars. I worked on the set for 3 days at about $60.00 a day. We had a ton of fun, even though they were VERY long days.

The above scene makes me chuckle still. We all drove around the block, and the director, Joe Camp must have liked the look of my car, because he had it set up for me to be in the shot on each pass. The scene had Benji (the dog) being thrown out of the hotel, rolling down the stairs, shaking it off and heading down the alley next to the woman in the shot. Dogs being dogs, it took more than a few takes and on one take, Benji ran out right in front of me, I locked up my brakes and came to a screeching halt mere inches from the lovable mutts head. Joe Camp screamed CUT, and came over and started yelling at me for stopping and asking why I stopped...I replied, "Do you have a bunch of these dogs I don't know about? Because if I hadn't stopped I would have killed your star!". Joe turned around, walked away and restarted the scene.

I was also in the opening scene were Chevy Chase is struggling with an umbrella trying to get in to the cab. He walked right past me with my wipers going full tilt. I was in a third scene that slips my mind...time to watch the movie again :-)

Great site Gag, brought back some great memories of filming this movie in Old Montreal many moons ago.

Here's another picture of my GT6 from Oh Heavenly Dog, it's from the opening sequence.

This scene was a nightmare to shoot. It took about 12 hours, the rain was provided from fire hoses attached to street lamps if I remember correctly. The poor guy on the motorcycle next to me kept begging me to switch places with him in between scenes :-) Funny for me...not so much for him.

It was also funny for me watching Chevy Chase rehearse the umbrella in the cab scene over and over again...so much for being an improv actor huh Chevy ;-) He was a pretty good guy though, shot the breeze with me and my buddy for a bit.

lester_boogie that is a great looking GT6. Do you remember what color code it was, it is a little hard to tell in the photo. I am currently trying to pick a paint color for my 1972 MkIII.

Sorry, I don't. I think the color was called Chocolate Brown, at least that's what the dealer told me.
