Early rectangular lights/black grille rally cars were 68-70 Twin Cam only - this one could match; the alternative is a 71+ GT with boy-racer arches etc. |

If visible, the plate could date it. In Portugal (where the Escort was assembled), the GT received rectangular headlights since its introduction in the first months of 1970.
