No reason to think this is a 1973 from the picture. Custom mods but front end appears 1980 or later?

I agree. It's got to be an '80 or '81 before the body change. Needs to be bumped up to at least 4 if not 5 stars cause it's used by the villian throughout the whole movie.

The car is 78 and up. 1973 had the small back glass, not the big one shown here.

I agree that the year of this one should be labeled as 1980, based on the two-piece turn indicators.

Ever notice that the spedometer is never shown much higher than 55? :D

I watched this movie recently. When they showed an interior shot, it had the 'tunneled' instrument pannel that was used on '77 and earlier models.

From looking at the car, I'm not even certain it has the '78-up large rear glass. It looks like it might be a small glass car that's been simulated into a fastback to make it appear newer.

The interior shots always show a 77 and earlier style interior, and a vertical "tunnel" style rear window strangely covered in 78-82 style slats. Sometimes it has a 69-75 style steering wheel, sometimes it has a 76.

It has a custom front clip that was popular in the 80s, but this one looks wider than it's supposed to be and doesn't fit with the doors. It has an 84-89 style rear end and a broken spoiler. The look would have been pretty cool if they had pulled it off right.

It's commonly mentioned in trivia that the speedometer never goes above 55, but look again, that's the tachometer redlining at 5,300 RPM.

Shows they are louvers and not the glass of the 78-82 models.

Somebody noticed that there's repair in the back although it was shot in the front?

The rear repair appears after the scene where it's rammed in the back and into the graveyard.

Resurrecting a dead thread but my $.02 on this is that there were at least 2 different corvettes used during filming

the External appears to be around a 78 bubble rear window, with the ecklers wide front and twin turbo hood with top louvers and side turbo louvers, c4 rear clip, 1980 front bar,ACI rear wing
In the shots getting in and out of that car it appears to have '76 interior including the vega steering wheel (when he receives the lookout mountain road note its on the vega wheel) you can also see the 76-78 seat styling if you freeze frame as he gets into the car
you can see during the final race that the Automatic shift has the leather boot which was a 77 on addition (you can also see the L-48 engine tag in one shot. 200hp lol)
the tachomoter shots are of a early tunneled style dash
During the final race scenes there is what i assume are camera mounting brackets coming through the front bar that aren't there earlier in the movie.

the other interior shots are in a corvette with earlier interior, in the "blood lovers" scene the steering wheel is the early C3 (69-75) with the 3 unpainted spokes with the teardrop shaped holes in the spokes, Also the seats in this scene are different having the chrome edged inserts near the top which is also more common in the 75 and earlier

there's probably a few other bits i have missed, i have tried googling everything to confirm it and make sure my information is correct as possible and apologise for anything not right

Watching the scene now, I'm not seeing the leather boot on the automatic shifter. Also, the L-48 console tag is the style only used on 1975 and 1976. Since the 1976 steering wheel is shown throughout this entire sequence (and the shots of the 5300rpm tachometer are consistent with the 1975-1977 L48 units), I'm guessing at least one of the cars used was a 1976 L-48/automatic car. Which incidentally, would've only been 180 horsepower that year.

It's hilarious how old this thread is and people still haven't figured out this car. The car's model year is 1977, but the body is heavily modified with a Baldwin Motion body kit and other non-1977 Corvette parts, so people don't what they're looking at.

The Wraith movie Corvette is a 1977 C3, with a Motion Phase III 454 body kit without its clear headlight covers, 1982 C3 front nose, and modified C4 Corvette rear clip. The louvers on the back are for a bubble glass Stingray, but the glass is 1977 vertical glass with louvers covering the fastback pillars. The parts of the pillars underneath the sides of the louvers are painted flat black, not silver, so it appears the rear glass is bubble glass, but it's not - there is no glass directly underneath the louvers. It's open just as it is on a factory 1977 C3. The modified C4 rear clip includes the rear quarters from behind rear C3 pillars.

I hope this is enough to put this thread to bed. =P

1977 according to what? Do you seriously think they swapped an earlier L48 console tag onto a 1977 car? For what purpose?

Clearly, more than one car was used, and one could well have been a 1977. But I see no evidence to pinpoint that specific year on any of the cars that appear on screen.
