Not even sure it's a 1303, with black bumper(s) like a 1975-77 1200 S (S due to the vents), also no back-up lights -- Last edit: 2013-06-18 19:22:53 |

yes, the 1303 had always chrome bumpers. This is a 1200 povery trim line for the Austrian police (see the plate) |

Police vehicles were simple? Could be a 1303 still, but a 1974 1303A, 1975 (no longer 1303A) still could offer 1200 engine but I fail to find the black bumpers. So a 1974 1303A is possible, a look at the front would tell what version it is. -- Last edit: 2013-06-18 23:21:42 |

Interior and trim line yes. As my brother-in-law, a cop nearby Berlin (his second, but officially allowed job: http://www.kdk-filmservice.de/ ) told me, they had no comfort-extras, but some police-specific extras, as extra strong skai-leather seatcovers and simpler, but better cleanable carpet. Plus the usual stuff, as holder-frames for the radio set and holders for automatic pistols. But often the engines doesn't belong to the original trim-lines. My brother-in-law has confirmed that, also a friend, who had worked for 31 years in the VW Passat-factory in Emden. Sometimes even tuned engines were taken, especially for (often civil) Autobahn-patrol-cars, but for regular patrol cars, too. I remember, how astonished I had been, when I saw in the early 90ies a damaged VW Passat Variant [35i]in a VW garage. It was optically completely a semi-basic CL-version, simple steel wheels, orange front indicators, simple interior - but it had a G60-engine And I remember, when a police-VW T3 has followed us, after a fellow with his really not lame Irmscher-Monza has passed a traffic light at "cherry-green". I told him "Ah, they never gonna get us, I know these lame 55hp-Diesel-T3 from my Bundeswehr-times - they got us! The T3 had a complete basic Transporter outfit - but the 136hp fuel-engine... |

Great story! Police vehicles have also had a more powerful engine up here. That's what I had in mind when I suspected a 1200 S -- Last edit: 2013-06-19 10:56:00 |

@ingo: I see you have discovered what the Polizei are using those sleeper cars with more powerful engine fitted in That what the Southern moonshiner do with their cheapest car they can find with the most powerful factory engine fitted in |
