After researching this further, this cannot be a 1953-55 Daimler Conquest Roadster as the Roadster did not have quarterlights. It has to be a Daimler Drophead Coupe, launched 1955. 54 built 1955-57. |

Revisiting this some seven years later: This car is believed to have been built as a 'standard' Roadster - the chassis number (90497) is certainly a Roadster allocation. The authority on these cars, my good friend Dennis Mynard, states that the car has a Carbodies body no., but the car was then sent to Hooper & Co. coachbuilders for modification to the specification requested by Norman Wisdom. The car certainly carries features found on the later New Drophead Coupés, as well as features peculiar to this Roadster only. |
