Open question - do Mini pick-ups and vans of all periods deserve ADO15 and ADO20 classification? I looked for references a few weeks ago and did not find anything particularly definite - were there other designations for vans/pick-ups? Also unclear if the 1970 car transition from ADO15 to 20 applies to vans and pick-ups which did not change much at that point - eg kept external door hinges and sliding windows throughout - the only real 1970 change was badging by dropping the parallel Austin and Morris versions for a single Mini as make. 998cc option had started earlier (Oct 67) at same time as Mk2 ADO15 cars got it with facelift. Anybody know anything? How do we want to treat them?

My own experience in working with BMC/Austin-Morris/etc. is that they were exclusively used as development codes, so once they were in full production they remained relatively static or even unused. So most model revisions went without a new ADO number. I guess the use of ADO15 and ADO20 is valid and consistent with their use on pickups and vans as they would be included on the tooling and development costing for the base programme. Therefore saloon, traveller, van and pickup would use the same ADO number.

Thanks - I can run with the idea of including vans and pickups within the same ADO system as cars, but as v/p-u bodywork never changed from start to finish, should they all become ADO15? Or do we decide to use ADO20 after 1970 despite the lack of anything new apart from badging?

My personal view only - Go with the later ADO number as despite the fact they continued to use the cost-cutting external hinges and sliding glass there would I guess be more detailed and hidden minor revisions which they would carry-over from the saloons etc. however I think its preferable I think to keep them inline.
