Quite right, although I think that the Bentley Drivers Club might prefer to see it referred to as a 4 1/2 litre. |

1928 4½ Litre [#HF3177] - Mixed history "built as a sports saloon in 1928 with Albany coachwork, had an accident in 1936 and was returned to Bentley motors for a rebuild. This involved changing the chassis to another 4½ litre that the factory had in stock." ... rebuilt in the late 80s with a "new" original VDP 4 seater body - http://www.vintagebentleys.org/carpages/uc3256.php . -- Last edit: 2012-02-26 13:36:19 |

Bentley Motors Cricklewood factory had long changed by 1936, and one wonders whether the Rolls-Royce factory at Derby, which housed Bentley Motors (1931) Ltd., would have rebuilt the chassis to create the car we see today. Maybe the service dept, located at Hythe Road in London NW10, was what was meant by "the factory". The coachbuilder (Sammells) who did the Le Mans replica bodywork is a new name to me. |
