Thought so but not sure at all.

Surely 1940? It looks a bit too new for this year. Body style is more like a 1948+ car.

I thought the same but if the plate is real it is from 1940.

The plate could have been sourced from a different car though.

I believe the car is a Pegaso Z103 Spider Serra or some sort of customized version of it.

We have twin headlights on each side at the front.

The bonnet has a little scoop near the front.

On the sides we have vents near the front wheels, an internal door handle and a rounded bodywork towards the rear.

The two major differences are the tailights and the gas cap. The Z103 i've checked have at the most 2 equal round lights on each side, not 3, 1 bigger and 2 smaller. And the gas cap is not in the correct position.

Another possibility - it's 1940 chassis dressed up by coachbuilder 10+ years later. It was popular way of refreshing prewar cars.

(Here you have nice sample of 1940 Mercedes 320 Cabriolet W142 with early 50s body made by Wendler - front, side-front, side-tail).

I'm with 130rapid on this. In olden times it was quite common for sports car manufacturers to make Specials that were based on old standard cars with a new body.

However it looks like 'I-wonna-be Pegaso barchetta' edition. :sun: . Does it have Pegaso wheels or exhaust?

It's not a Pegaso, but a Fiat 1500 with Serra body.

blackwalls is right. The plate belongs to 1940, but it's fake. Take a look here:
