These are actually six cars, all made for the film.

Designed by Rowland Emmett they were built at the Alan Mann racing workshop in 1967.

Is that the same Alan Mann who had all the red and gold racecars?

Beautiful cars, very impressive in person. I saw the one in the Keswick museum. Well worth visiting if you like film cars.

The Keswick museum one features non opening rear doors i believe..they were sealed shut when the vehicle was sold off after filming.

Chitty wasn't a Mercedes. It was a made for the movie car using a 1968 Ford engine and automatic transmission.
