I would say that it is more likely that this is a Hotchkiss M-201 (1955-67) than a Willys MB or a Ford GPW. The French army aquired about 22.000 MB or GPW just after the war, and more than 27.500 built by Hotchkiss in the '50s and '60s. Looking at the year of filming and a bit of probability theory the Hotchkiss wins. Keeping them apart from the outside is rather difficult. One difference is the tyre size: Hotchkiss used tyre size 6.50x16, Willys and Ford 6.00x16. Aren't these tyres a bit wider that usual? Comments, please! |

The tyres may be a little larger... Well, I agree with your suggestion: we will label it as Hotchkiss |

Why not naming it Hotchkiss Jeep M-201?...in that case any looking for Jeep could find it with others makes Willys Jeep, Ford Jeep, etc... |

People that search for Jeeps will click on "Jeep" in the list on the main page, or type "Jeep" as make on the search page |

Same problem with the Dodge Viper from French movie labelled as Chrysler Viper, and lots of other cars in a similar case |
