Weird. It doesn't look like an American made car.

That's for the nationality of the production companies. (And the Panamanian company must have been a tax dodge of some sort.) The only filming locations listed are:
Quote Cinévision, Montréal, Québec, Canada
(studio)

Montréal, Québec, Canada

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Alfa-Romeo Alfetta comes to my mind

I rotated the image in PS and alot of things look 'right' for it being an Alfetta : http://www.alfagtv6.com/images/italyTrip/alfetta72.jpg

If the scene take place in South America, could it be a brazilian made Alfa Romeo 2300, which look like a cross between an Alfa 6 and an Alfetta don't you think?

I thought it was filmed in Italy :??:

The frontal not seems of an Alfetta. In 1976 the lights were round and bigger, only the Alfetta 2000 since 1977 had rectangular lights, since 1980 also 1.6, 1.8 and diesels had rectangulare phares. And the Alfa symbol?
:??:

It isn't an Alfetta. Maybe Audi 100 C1?

Certainly not an Audi 100 up to me :/

I agree. After watching the video, I would say it's a 1968 ( one of the first with its "clap-hands" wipers ) Datsun 510. The rear end is visible and the C-pillar grille also helps to the identification.

It is a 510 no doubt, possible 68 as it has the steel pillar vents,if its got the cross over wipers it definatly is a 68,I own a few of these
