Morris-Commercial PV van, modified, maybe a diesel engine fitted which was longer, and very impractical covering of the rear wheels, what if you had a puncture?

Possibly an early armoured vehicle?

Yes definetly a Morris Commercial PV modified.

Interesting comment from chris40 in respect of armoured modification, maybe for a cash-in-transit van, the film is called "Payroll" and is about a heist. The radiator grille and fan could have been altered to reverse the airflow so that air exits the radiator rather than entering it. This makes it less easy to melt the solder in the radiator by chucking a Molotov cocktail into it. The extension over the back wheels could be a form of tyre protection.

However, the basic van only carried about 1500 kg, and the engine was a weedy 2.2 petrol, plus the wheels shown are the original factory fits, at least at the front. No runflats in those days, the windows are still standard, and if it was fully armour plated with say 3mm armour, it would barely have been able to drag itself about.
