All the others on the site are listed as hatchbacks. Which is correct, hatchback or van/MPV?

Crossover is the class it is mostly described as in the car magazines here.

I'd go for MPV or even Estate.

It is even desrbied this way at the manufacturer site (3008 crossover). We have to think about crossover class, there will be more such cars...

3008 has Peugeot’s Grip Control system, a driver selectable all-terrain system that adapts the car’s front-wheel drive to whatever mode is selected; be it normal, mud, sand, or snow mode. The Grip Control knob is found aft of the gearbox shifter on the centre console, next to the driver’s seat. The 3008 is said to be the most capable all-terrain two-wheel drive vehicle.

The system controls different vehicle systems and components like the engine, electronic stability program and ABS/traction control systems.

The car has 6.2 inches (157 mm) of ground clearance. 5.8 inches (147 mm) minimum ground clearance, likely the lowest point under the vehicle.

Peugeot’s Grip Control is similar to Land-Rover’s Terrain Response, Ford’s Terrain Management, Toyota’s Multi-Terrain Select, Jeep’s SelecTerrain, and Nissan’s Variable 4x4 Mode.
