^ pretty well impossible in most cases, without plate or film dates. RHD S1 in their original country have a particular headlight format ("spiders-eye"), but LHD S1 and all S2 share a different format (which would also be fittted to eg RHD S1 privately imported to US; jfs also mentions that many RHD S1 owners upgrade to the S2 format as it's a better headlight and an easy change). There may be a trick for the small front grilles being plain metal on S1 and chromed on S2, but this is unconfirmed and rarely visible in a useful fashion. If the bonnet is up, S1 was a straight six, S2 a V8. Same factors apply for RR SC1/SC2. |
