I believe it would be a C-6500 or C-7500, hence why it is labeled as a C-Series. These trucks weren't just known by a number or series of numbers like "6500."

no i don't think so cause i'm lookin at ebay and all them listed do NOT have the ''c'' in its name also th 6500 7500 ect were the next gen but now i'm 99.99999999100% sure that they didn't use it cause there light trucks didn't...

ebay is no reliable source for names. People choose how they list their items/cars and most will just list based on what is on the name badge. Since only the numbers are on the name badges for these trucks and not the "C," I can understand how those unfamiliar with the names would simply list these trucks with their numbers and not the C.

Indeed, people selling their rounded-line GM C/K-Series pickups also list the trucks by whatever name plate is on the front fenders, seemingly unaware that the name plate indicates the trim level package and is not the model name.

You would think someone would say: "wait a minute, how can one brand of vehicle have up to four different model names?"

You described it perfectly. Truth be told, I'm still not sure about the 1975-1980 GMC trucks and if it's C/K-*5 or C/K-*500 as the sales literature/brochures contradict the name badges.

Whatever the weight classification is(and it was always four digits), this truck was made between 1973 and 1988.

Then why do some of them only have two digits, like C-70 for example?

Because those are Chevrolets, not GMC's. Also, you should realize that the 1973-80 light-duty trucks had the numbers partially spelled out(i.e.; 15 Hundred, 25 Hundred, 35 Hundred).
