This car was made in the Soviet Union, not the Russian Federation, which is the flag for this car's country of origin.

USSR flag added, what cars should be changed? All GAZ or only some models?

Good question, there's the issue that some GAZ cars will have been produced after the fall of the Soviet Union, making them Russian not USSR. But if there's a Russian vehicle in a film made during the years of Soviet Russia, then it should be Soviet.

Also, the older Skodas would have been made in Czechoslovakia, not the Czech Repulic.

The Czechoslovak and Czech Republic flags are almost identical, so much so that Flags of the World uses the same illustration for both.

Agree but ... uhm .. that could drive us crazy in post-89 films for proper ID the vehicles ... who can recognize an '89 soviet-build Lada or UAZ as opposed to a '90 Russian Lada or UAZ?

Well with those I think we'll have to leave them as they are.

All cars produced after 1991 should has a Russian flag.
25.12.1991 is the date of the end for Soviet Union, not 1989. In 1989 some countries from the "Eastern block" (like: PL, CS, H, DDR etc.) changed their political system, but Soviet Union still existed.
I think that we can change flags for cars which were produced only in the Soviet Union era (f.e. Moskvitch 408/412) or which were in movies from this time (f.e. Samara in '86 movie). I can do that. I've changed already some flags in Moskvitches.

The rear-view mirrors are not original, looks like they're from a bigger vehicle.
