That's a Lanz Bulldog. Could be an Eilbulldog. I have to look up the exact type. Hermann Lanz, Aulendorf, produced them for a long time and was acquired much later by what is today John Deere in Mannheim, Germany. |

Yep, the unique sound, the big flywheel and for most of them the typical design of the exhaust pipe make them easily recognizable. And an impressive sight. Especially if one of those is started...  |

Those two look like pre-war Bulldogs. I would say the left/middle one is a 10 litre model (that is 1 cylinder, 10.000 cc!), the right one might be a 5 litre. But that is quite vague for the moment. They are not Eilbuldogs, as those have fenders over the front wheels and a fixed cabin, either closed or cabriolet style. It really is impressive. After starting the engine is revving at an idle speed of 100 cycles, maximum lies by 500 to 600 cycles per minute. I once heard a 10 litre Bulldog misfire -- it made me jump and I stood about 50 metres away! Try to visit one of the old tractor meetings in North Germany. There are quite a few during the year and you will probably find one not too far away from your home. |

I bought a nice DVD yesterday ..'Vintage Tractors" ..which includes a Lanz Bulldog.! (Once I get the captures done, I'll add the pics this coming week) ..a couple of unusual makes also ..which will take us close to 1100 makers.! .gif ";)") |
