The engine capacity of 2166cc indicates a Daimler DB17-1. The DB18, an otherwise similar car, was fitted with a 2522cc engine for 1939, and for the post-war production until 1950. |

This car used to belong to my parents. I learnt to drive on it and would love to know where it is now when it isn't being used in a movie. It was in our family for at least 15 years and brings back so many memories. It would be great to see it again. |

This car is indeed a DB17-1 and it bears its original registration. It has an aluminium body with steel wings and bonnet by Salmons & Sons. An extra ordered at the time of purchase at a cost of £100 was the winding mechanism for the Tickford hood. I am absolutely delighted to see it looking so original and in such fine condition and I congratulate the present owner. I was the fourth owner of this wonderful car and kept it for thirty years until I sold it a couple of years ago. I was privileged to have met the original owner, a lady, and the other two owners before me. I am so very pleased the car is in such good hands and sincerely hope the gentleman, who I know to be an enthusiast of the mark, will enjoy it for many years to come. |
