The difference is in the length of the engine hood - only 4 inches. I have found a couple of pictures that show the difference. They both use the same moulding in the hood side but on the Special it is very close at the back to the end of the hood side http://www.woolcockantiqueauto.com/waapimgprdcts/buick-passenger-side1.jpg - where on the Century there is a space of several inches - just visible on this car with side mounts - http://oldcarandtruckpictures.com/Buick/1938_Buick_Century-b.jpg. Which makes this car a Special. Buick sold over 11,000 Model 46 Coupes versus about 5,000 Model 46-S Sport Coupes. -- Last edit: 2011-01-13 21:39:20 |
