Opel Kadett [D] - could it even be a rare sedan version? |

No, AFAIK the Sedan-version has alswas the round front lamps of the basic version. |

In Italy this version was called Special (and was in between the standard with round hrad lights and the "Berlina") |

The few sedans sold in sweden came with square headlights, so it probably depends on which market. Here the round headlights only were fitted to cars destined for the post or telephone companies. |

Originally both items, the Sedan-trunk and the round frontlamps were only available for the naked basic version of the Kadett D. All better trim-lines had the Hatchback and the square lamps. Maybe it was possible to order a basic version with just one of these extra options. Very unusual, but it really had happend. Sometimes you can see such strange combinations like an absolute basic car with a sunroof as only extra or so. Sure, for specific export-markets the car-companies haven't offered all combinations. So in the 70ies VW had for Sweden the rule, that basic cars were only available with the smaller engines, better trim lines only with the bigger ones. Different than in Denmark, where, due their tax-regulations, extra options were extremely expensive, but bigger engines not. So there you often could see basic equipped cars, but with the strongest engines (uncommon outside of DK, totally impossible for the Swedish market). -- Last edit: 2011-01-11 17:52:16 |
