I checked out you profile, awsome cars man. I agree with you one these weak, plastic cars today. I think the best cars in history were made from 1930-1994 when the Tempo/Topaz was discontinued and the Explorer went to the next generation and would go on to kill millions in it's catastrophic roll-overs. There were a few rare Tempo's too even. The leather seat package, the flip-open roof, the V6 engine, the 87' AWD models and the GLS/XR5/LTZ are becoming rare and are mutch sought after by the members of The Ford Tempo and Mercury Topaz Car Club of North America. Oh and the mixed-up special order Tempo/Topaz are also rare, mine is rare because it is a 1989 Ford Tempo LX AWD model, they were special order so very few were made and another plus is that mine has all the options availible for that year! The Electra sounded sweet. Back in the late 80's when my Dad was short on money he parted with his beautiful red, 1964 Pontiac LeMans GTO hardtop. He really regrets selling it.

Explorer4x4- Tempo's/Topaz's are ok (they kick the crap out of the rice burners, thats for sure)...but I wouldn't sell a rare old '61 Electra for one. The Tempo we had was an '86. And we only had it for a year, before selling it for an '88 Aerostar minivan. We had quite a few old cars besides that Electra and Oldsmobile. In 1980, when my Father first came to the states from the UK, he bought a 1973 Ford Gran Torino wagont. He had that for a year, before trading cars with his friend who was moving and needed the extra space. His friend gave him his 1976 Chevy Monte Carlo. That was an awesome car too, so nice that my Dad kept it until 1990 when it was a rusty hulk of metal.

Ya, if somebody walked up to me and said "Hey, I'll give you a 70' Cadillac El Dorado for that Ford Tempo" you bet I'm gonna take it, I'm not a fool. But I think in the Tempo's class, it sure as hell kicks it's compitition to Pluto. I think it even reaches out to higher catagories like mid-class sedans with the LX and GLS V-6 trims. But, when it comes down to it, the Tempo/Topaz are at the lowest level in car class, the basic, entry-level compact 4/2-door coupes.
