I think Phantom VI, by Mulliner Park Ward (?). |

Yes, it does seem to have a higher roofline than the normal Silver Cloud. |

Ok then, but can't be a Phantom IV, as this version came for 1969. Then a V 1963-68 by H.J.Mulliner-Park Ward |

I've got my fingers burnt before in separating SC3s so kept out of this one, but agree it's a Phantom. Look at the height of the headlamps in relation to sidelights - sidelights are lower down on Phantom but fairly level on SC3 (eg /vehicle_171875-Rolls-Royce-Silver-Cloud-III.html ). |

So that's what they spent all my pocket money on - I thought NME was supposed to be alternative. |

And the plate says MK154. Although by now it's probably on another car. |

Established alternatives habe the same car-taste as socialist leaders or anti-colonial revolutioneers. So where is the reason to wonder about the Rolls? |

NME didn't become "alternative" until 1972, when it had become out of touch with the musical scene, circulation was plummeting and the owners appointed a new editor to try to turn things round: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Musical_Express#1970s -- Last edit: 2010-11-07 13:26:29 |

I know that now, but back then I was young, believed everything I was told (well nearly everything) and had not started going bald. It is some consolation if all those years spent delivering newspapers, washing cars, gardening, sweeping up leaves, polishing shoes etc did not subsidise plutocrats buying Rollers. I suppose for M Kinn it was a case of having to keep up with the Lennons. |
