Just for discussion: - Was the double side trim all along the car only for top line like Roadmaster, Century and (I don't know) Limited? - If yes. This looks a 2 door Sedanette and for 1942 among those three only the Roadmaster 2 door Sedanette is possible. I think. - If yes to the previous comment. Would be 76-S its code chassis like in post war 1946? |

I'm not sure, but I think the Super and Century also had the continuing side trim on the Sedanette (and Super convertible, like http://www.prewarbuick.com/cars/260/1942-Buick-Super-convertible ) version. Chassis code would indeed be [56S], [66S] or [76S], wheelbase was 124", 126" or 129" and production numbers were respectively 14629, 1232 and 2475. |

The double side trim on 1942 Buicks ran along the whole side of the car on the series 70 Roadmaster Sedanet( 76-S) and Convertible 76-C) and on the series 50 Super Sedanet( 56-S) and Convertible ( 56-C) .These were the models with the front fender line flowing into the rear fender line.The sedans of these two series ( 71 and 51) did have separated trim as the front fenders extended only at half front door.This was also the case for the Limited series 90 cars and for the Series 60 Centurys of which only the 2 and 4 door Sedanets were produced .On the series 40 Specials, ( 76-S) the Series B had separated trim , the series A only front fender trim.The car here appears a long wheelbase 129 inches Roadmaster Sedanet model 76-S. |
