1928 4 1/2 Litre Supercharged. This car looks to be "The Brooklands Battleship" Registration No UU 5871, originally driven by Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin. |

This site lists it as 1929 - Link to "www.barchetta.cc" It may have stared as a 1928 chassis and been modifed for 1929?? Interesting reading through the list of cars at Pebble Beach that year - it appears there are two "No4" cars! -- Last edit: 2010-10-23 22:16:36 |

1928 is the year of production of the very first 4 1/2 litre supercharged car, but it was not fitted with its blower until 1929. The car in the picture is understood to be 1929, so I stand corrected. UU 5871 is Chassis no HB3402, and has worn 4 different bodies at various times. Tim Birkin raced the car with racing number "5", so where did the 4 come from? |
