Why not a Mondeo like everyone else in Europe? |

IIRC they were second-hand prezzies from NYPD. |

Times are tough when you start using 2nd hand police cars! |

What does the light on the door mirror do, apart from dazzle the driver? |
◊ 2010-09-15 14:20 |
it allows them to see clearly down dark alleys and the like. Saves them getting off their ass. |

Those are spotlights and they are mounted on the a-pillar, not on the side mirrors. They're very common on law enforcement vehicles in the United States. They're a very useful and effective tool that help officers in many different ways at night. Especially since they more or less provide 180 degree coverage. As seen here, the spotlight can be turned the opposite way but in that position, it does no good so I can't really explain why it's like that. This Crown Victoria is a 1995-1997 model. |

@ford_guy: They have it positioned in a way make this more aerodynamically efficent |
◊ 2010-09-17 03:24 |
That's not aerodynamically efficient. To be efficient, they would have to be pointed downward and inward (so that the spotlight pretty much faces the dash). |

They have police donkeys in Russia!?!? The reversed light position would keep the glass clean, so it makes some sense. |

Ass = arse = bottom. |

I now understand the Nativity in a completely new perspective. |

Silly nonsense. It's just leftovers from '95 purchase. |

I also know that some Russian police officers still do not want to give up their old CrownVics and not write off, because in that case they will certainly give as new car Daewoo Nexia (or something similar); and CrownVic, as you know, even if it is old, everything anyway because a lot better. |

1995 by plate. |

According /vehicle.php?id=457170 made for RUS |
◊ 2017-01-11 17:27 |
i don't know... made for RUS would have a space big enough for the license plate ? and maybe amber turn signal like the Cavalier ( unless the regulation changed between 1993 and 1997 ) ? -- Last edit: 2017-01-11 17:29:53 |

They could have imported one for filming and dressed it up as a Moscow police car. |
◊ 2017-01-11 19:20 |
Not in this case. One of those Crown Vic's which were oficially imported there to work in a real Militia. Not a special-made cinema car. |
◊ 2017-01-11 19:42 |
Was there ever a Crown Vic version with space for the European plate? There are only few US-cars at all with that. In Russia it's the problem with the authority's obstinacy to issue 52 cm-plates without any exception. In all(?) other countries with his plate-size you can choose plates in other shapes. So in Germany US-cars usually have plates in the size for tractors and small motorbikes (except in some districts, where ignorant dumbass-morons are sitting in the traffic authority ), plates in the exact US-size are rare, but they exist. |

We have square plates in Russia, but it's not official. These plates always made by owners with private firms's help. Most of them are in Dalnyy Vostok region and Crimea (It's interesting). Dalnyy Vostok's police understood drivers in most cases and didn't tell them to pay a fine, but in other cases... fines are huge. |

In theory, you could say these are Made for RUS, since these most likely have Kilometer speedometers (as part of a order) as they were built in Canada for export to Russia. |
◊ 2017-01-13 06:05 |
or they could be canadian ones as we have km/h too... |

Journal of June 1993, about the one of the first CV. It says that it is Canada's specification. https://www.zr.ru/archive/zr/1993/06/s-ghierbom-moskvy-na-bortu |

Only one: https://www.drive2.ru/r/ford/454147781368480249 Former police car. The speedometer in kilometers (Canada-spec?). It's probably the aftermarket conversion? |

I read, that now it officially - but I still have not seen no one. |

@Gamer can we possibly get this VIN or did you mention before that we could not pull police data? |
