My grandfather had one like this. He traded a 1977 Lincoln MarkV and a 1982 Chevette for a 1985 Pony and he really liked it! I didn't! He kept it two years and replaced it by a 1987 Stellar CXL. He sold it to one of my aunts after that and she didn't like it as much as he did! |

Going from a Mark V to a Hyundai? That just... sounds wrong. I know the Mark V had terrible fuel economy and was the epitome of gaudy, impractical, oversized luxury coupes, but to trade it for a Hyundai? |

I also thought it was wrong! My grandfather used to like fancier cars but back in the mid eighties, he didn't seem to care for these anymore. He didn't like spending on anything except cars before 1985, and after that, he didn't like to spend on anything! When I bought my first car back in 1992 (a used 1968 Buick Wildcat), he told me it did cost way too much to operate these, more fuel, larger tires that were more expensive to replace... He was right about the fuel, but 18 years later, 15" tires are considered rather small! |

That's a true 1984 - The best ones built - The 1985 and up (different grille, lack of awesome gray interior, shittier floor pan, crappy quality stalks and wiring... ) are not as good. I wish my 1987 had chrome handles! |
