Vickers-Armstrong Universal Carrier or Bren Gun Carrier, built between 1934 and 1960 |

The official military name is 'Universal Carrier No.2 Mk.II', made by Aveling-Barford amongst others (however not Vickers-Armstrong). The term bren-gun carrier was only used as description of its use or a 'nick-name'. |

As far as I understand it was developed by Vickers-Armstrong and built by several manufactures inside and outside the UK. |

It was based on a Carden-Lloyd design, developed by Vickers-Armstrong and produced by a number of manufacturers : - Aveling-Barford - Ford - Sentinel - Thornycroft - Wolseley (from Alexander's previous comment) |
