The programme makers used two cars in the making of this show, one they gave away as the viewer's prize at the end of the programme, the other was left in the back lot under a tarpaulin until I bought it six years ago. I have now sold on that car to a racing driver in Paris and i am currently rebuilding the AMV8 used by Rowan Atkinson in the Barclaycard TV commercial. www.aston-V8.co.uk

Glass's says for exterior up to 1980:
1] April 72 - DBS V8 (4 headlights etc) replaced by V8 (2 headlights etc)
2] Sept 73 - deeper scoop on bonnet as 4 weber carbs replace fuel injection
3] Dec 74 - production suspended - resumed unchanged June 75
4] Aug 78 - restyled bonnet with smaller hump, front over-riders, built-in boot spoiler
5] Vantage introduced Apr 77 front spoiler & blanked off intake, integrated boot spoiler from Jan 78.
So this is 74my? Why Mk3?

I was going from this site: http://www.astonmartins.com/v8/v8_s3_weber_carb.htm (DBS V8 is like series 1) Although it refers to the 1977 Vantage and 1978 Volante as series 1 (even though they are more of less part of the "October India" Series 4 range). This is how the Aston Martin Owners Club used to refer to them, although there weren't an official factory designations, so recently the AMOC stopped calling them "Series 2/3/4/5" according to that site. Maybe I was wrong to add MkIII etc. I just thought it would help to categorise them.
