The original cabine was made by SAVIEM, and became MAN . |

I'va always thought the original cabin was made by MAN and sold in France as SAVIEM... but I really don't know. |

IIRC this cab originated with SAVIEM, from whom MAN licensed it … later it appeared badged as Büssing, ÖAF (as here), ROMAN, Rába and I’m not sure but possibly MAZ-MAN. |

MAN and Saviem had a coooperation between 1967 and 1977. @chris: a little correction: "badged as Büssing" is not 100% correct. MAN took over büssing in 1972, then the whole company was named MAN Büssing, and they added the logo with the lion on the grille. The lion is the symbol for the town of Braunschweig, where Büssing was founded. Today the "Büssing" is disappeared from the name, but the lion-logo is still there, as a reminiscense to the roots.Interesting also the information about the light truck in cooperation from MAN with Saviem. So the tools were sold later on to Czechoslavakia. So the Avia came later. Oh, I haven't known, that there are also assembly lines in Saudi Arabia and Mexico. -- Last edit: 2009-08-19 10:08:33 |

@ingo: I thought that in the early days of the takeover, some 'unterflur' versions were produced with Saviem cabs, MAN-like grilles but Büssing badging (not MAN Büssing). (I'm fairly sure that in the late 70s I had a Conrad model of such a truck with a drawbar trailer.) |

I think there weren't MAZs-MANs with F8 alike cab. F90 and F2000 - yes, as it was cooperation from the 1990's |

Michał is right. The "LKW-Weltweit" gallery is back online ... fascinating it is, too ... and all the MAZ-MAN cabs shown are later than this. |
