Dammit, AMCs are rare enough without them actually destroying TWO of them. Not only did they both look to be in decent shape, but all those parts wasted...

They crashed both vehicles head-on into a wedge-shaped snow plow to see if it would split them in half, length-wise. It didn't. It just smashed them to hell.

Looks like 1979 or later...

The one on the left is definitely Eagle wagon.

I saw the crash when the other AMC the AMC Eagle was smashed into the Snowplow and i hate to say it but it was pretty awsome but at what price i just hate what they did to those awsome old clasic AMCS

Up in Wisconsin (where this was filmed, at a testing facility where they crash test new cars as well) there are PLENTY of old not-so-rare AMCs around. Alot of which should have met this sort of demise YEARS ago.

In a new episode they used rockets to replicate the results

This myth could have come from Smokey And The Bandit 2 in the desert with the truck ambush

As an AMC guy, this hurts me. If this was done in 1989 or something, I'd give it a pass. But all these years later, I cant. These were actually fairly low-production vehicles-Far fewer than 50,000 a year.I was also a bit upset when they tried the experiment with the nasty stench in the perfectly good Corvette on another episode, but even that car is in greater supply than any AMC now.

Both of these cars were AMC Eagles. The red sedan, has a 1980 grill. The silver wagon's grill and hood would be 1985+.

They ought to have separate pages, in my opinion.

If this was to test a Smokey and the Bandit 2 theory there was a reason these cars didn't split. In SB2 the car thats split by a plow looks like it was pre-cut and splits with the aid of an explosion that you can see for a second, plus theres obvious small wheels on both sides to keep them from falling over.

^What part of Wisconsin are you from? Every time I wonder into Kenosha County I see tons of AMCs. Two months ago there was a 65 Clasic 2-dr hardtop for sale in someone's front yard at around WIS 50 and US 45, probably still there if you're interested.

I've found more AMC's in Kenosha on google street view than pretty much any other city.

Why couldn't they use something different? Like late '80s Toyotas?

When will the mythbusters learn that some cars are rare and shouldn't be destroyed for dumb myths.

Interesting. I've combed through probably 60% of the streets in that city on Street view and I think I found 2 AMCs. I think I found 2 in Racine as well, and none in any other nearby towns...

Start posting links because I obviously have looked in the wrong neighborhoods. I've looked at most of them.
