No, I think the problem is just to give information to the people who looks at the pictures. Export versions are interesting to be mentionned when notable modifications are done on the original cars to be adapted to the market where there are(were) sold...sometimes these adaption are even "translated" with a special name for it (example VW golf ==> rabbit for USA, Ford Granada==> Ford Consul, etc...)and it doesn't make any problem, so why should be a problem to put such a special info in the "extra-info' field (which was one of its purpose)between (..) or '...', that means it is not offical words of makes designations, but a usefull complementary info, as other info like 'beetle' , 'replica', etc...

Same for the US Renault Alliance used in the French series "Sous le soleil". When we suppose that it is the [country] version of a car, it is usually because we have no other clues. So I don't understand why adding a country field would bring any interest, knowing that the country is interesting for few cars among thousands, it is not necessary then the solution is to give the info "case by case" when it is usefull

Another possibility: when you type {XX} where "XX" is the country code, the site displays a flag instead of the code? (you'll ask "why do you absolutely want a flag icon !?", I'll say "because it adds few nice colors" ) ... en effet, hors mis le coté plus "fun" d'un drapeau, je vois pas vraiment où est la différence... et au risque de paraitre vieux-jeu, je trouve l' emploi de mots tout aussi pertinent que l'emploi de pictogrammes (en l'occurence des drapeaux), quand il s' agit comme ici d'une description.

Skilleter ◊ 2010-03-23 16:47	This XJS is certainly USA Spec- the large indicator repeater in the front wing (fender) shows that and the US registration confirms it!- but it still closely resembles the UK spec car I owned in the mid 1980's- which was a 1981 model. The wheels are the same- though those tyres with the white wall strip are certainly of US origin. Mine rusted horribly, though I had to leave it outside the coastal Hotel I owned at the time, so the salt air was unhelpful. I never liked the rather barge like handling handling and everything electrical went wrong, but what an engine the great V12 was!--smooth, quiet and very fast. Early XJS's were notorious gas guzzlers. Mine managed about 10mpg- that is, big 'Imperial' gallons not little US ones, so it was rather like running an unusually quick 1958 Buick only at UK gas prices. The one shown here looks horrible in bright yellow- in my humble opinion. I had my car re- sprayed in a hansom metallic burgundy colour and found a talented person to hand paint a double line along the side in real gold leaf. The interior was leather in light tan. The original bumpers were ugly black rubber things- as on the car shown here. These were replaced by those of the later style, that had bright chrome to relieve the blandness. After all that the car looked beautiful, even if I couldn't afford to go much further in it than to the the local 'cash n carry'. SixtiesSwing ◊ 2022-06-09 22:19	Interestingly, it seems to have been Purdey's car in this episode, but in "The Gladiators" and "Emily", it is Steed driving this car around the Toronto area, even getting it stuck in the mud when he reverses too quickly. Edit March 23, 2024: The car has Steed (alas, a stunt driver, not the great Macnee himself!) do a fantastic powerslide while chasing a Datsun B210 around the Lakeshore near downtown Toronto. I was rewatching these scenes, and noted the black panel on the rear between the taillights. Apparently this was a running change at the factory sometime during the build year 1976. I didn't recall this subtle difference. Macnee apparently hated driving according to an article from the late Sixties, saying that he had a 1963 S-Type, but he hated it and loaned it out to friends.
