The registration letters suggest 1950, which would make this a Mk VI. The coachwork looks like Park Ward, but not certain. -- Last edit: 2008-09-20 15:58:09 |

I agree with John. It looks like a Mk VI Park Ward Drophead Coupe. |

This is so Cool! I now own this car. 1949 Bentley, Park Ward DHC. Same serial #s and ownership history (Col. Firth). I have restored it to almost original condition and it took 2d in "Concours" judging at the 2008 Santa Anita Concours d' Elegance sponsored by the Rolls Royce Owners' Club - Southern California Region ("RROC-SCR"). I am very interested in the provinence from 1961 (last year known) until 1980 when I purchased the car in Century City. Interesting story about its status from then until now in Vol. 42, Issue 9, Sept. 2007 edition of "The Spirit of Ectasy" magazine published by the RROC-SSCR (Front cover and page 11). If anyone can provide me the ownersjhip information for the period from 1961 to 1980, and the location of the car during that time, it would be greatly appreciated. PS, how did Stronghold get the car ID number to post with the photos? PPS, the seller to me said that Ian Fleming (James Bond author) previously owned the car. Anyone know if that is true? Update on this car as of April 22, 2010. The car placed First in Class at the 2009 Rolls Royce Owners Club-Southern California Region Concours d'Elegance meet at Santa Anita Race Track. It was also selected to participate in the Trump Palos Verdes Concours, the Palm Desert Concours and the First Annual Greystone Mansion Concours d'Elegance in Beverly Hills, Ca. This car is a favorite and gets lots of attention. It is also a pleasure to drive. Everything works! Bill Baker |

Congratulations Bill! I have a lot of fun with my own Bentley Mark VI - alas a common standard saloon, not a drop head coupé. It was fun to identify your car and to add to its history. |
