IIRC it was developed in the 50ies http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glasbaustein (sorry, without informations about the history). Something for IMGlasbausteinDb P.S. An idiotic patent. Ugly to mount, worst (at least impossible) to change broken ones and an extreme thermal bridge. It doesn't matter, if you throw money in the oven or try to heat a room with them in the winter.
