Anyone know if this car is a six or a eight? Maybe a twin h powered car? |

With various interior details available during the Hudson's movie scenes was someone able to precisely ID as a '48? (My understanding is that from the outside, all '48's and '49's were identical.) -- Last edit: 2010-11-02 15:59:59 |

ask the guys at Twin H Garage in GA www.twinhgarage.com I was there last week and the very 48 Hudson Commodore from the movie was in the shop being spiffed up. I love Hudsons because they look cool and they are filled with amazing inovations. Also Hudsons are still available out there and cheeper than you might think. |

Just watched Driving Miss Daisy yesterday and fell in love with this car all over again. Did some research. If the Standard Catalog of American Cars is correct, this is a '49 rather than a '48. According to that book, a locking storage compartment on the driver's side of the Commodore dash was not added until the 1949 model year. (See thumbnail #4) Also checked out the 1948 brochure which shows a lock on the passenger side box only. Will change listing to 1949 pending any dissent. -- Last edit: 2013-10-08 18:16:30 |

I say 5 stars. Chapman's Car Compendium by Giles Chapman names this as a Hudson Hornet, but I'm fairly sure we're right with Commodore. |

You can be more than fairly sure, Classic. The "Hornet" name was not in use in 1949. (The first Hornet was the 1951 model.) -- Last edit: 2012-03-11 04:13:16 |

One of my all-time favorite movie cars and how it was presented. Thanks for the extra shots, Darkbaron. It's now one of the best-documented cars on the site. |

Here is a link to the Barrett-Jackson auction site 1949 Hudson: Link to "www.barrett-jackson.com" Was reviewing the car they sold. Note the difference in the driver's side view mirror. A change done later? Different car? (Everything else seems to match perfectly.) |
