BMW E30 325i Mel Gibson drives Goldie Hawn's E30 |

On the picture it's not Mel that drives since we see his legs going out of the car ![]() |

Pretty cool car chase with this navy blue E30 325i cabrio. In the movie Goldie Hawn is driving an automatic. But in the close-up of the pedals (when Mel Gibson is trying to keep his hand on the gas) it shows the pedals for a manual transmission (skinny brake pedal, not fat/retangular like an auto.). I don't think they are using the real sound of a BMW 325i. Really pathetic sounding. Sounds like some 4-cylinder Japanese car - if it was real, it would have a bassy, clean tone like most inline-6 cylinder BMW's. I hate when they cheap out on sound dubbing. It ruins the real experience. Otherwise, there's some great stunts, spins, slides, high-speed reverse etc... Sort of worth seeing, excpet for the lousy sound dubbing of car. |

I think they used in the internal shots of the chase beginning a manual version, for all other shots an automatic. I agree with Adrian for the sound... |

Another 'strange' thing: the BMW lost all the headrests for the whole chase... |

Regarding your comment appassionato, this is a very common thing they do to cars in movies. I think it looks really stupid! They remove the headrests so that the person in the back can be seen, or so you can see more of the view outside. Another very common thing they do is remove the rear-view mirror for the same reasons, or they twist it upside down - which looks really stupid. The BMW E34 in Ronin has this in a few shots. |

Yes, I agree, that seems really stupid! And then in this case there wasn't any people or something important sat on the back seats... ![]() Question: What model year is it? 1987 for USA? -- Last edit: 2006-11-08 18:49:29 |

The model year? It's most likely an `87-`89 judging by the wheels (20-spoke 14"). In 1990, the 15" E30 cross-spoke wheels were equipped for the 325i convertible. |

Thanks! You're always very precise... ![]() |

At some point, the "bad guys" shoot at the BMW, smashing the rear windows in a noise of broken glass. And I think the glass actually explose on the car. Unfortunately, the E30 convertible has a plastic rear screen! |
