It is the same car as this one /vehicle_103523-Fiat-Tipo-1-1910.html which I see that I identified more than a year ago as being about 1910. I hope someone can research the number plate. There is another one /vehicle_144498-Fiat-Tipo-1-1912.html which may prove to be the same car with a paint job. |

Here is one listed as 1910 http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Fiat_Tipo_1_1910.jpg but it has a scuttle/cowl whereas the subject car does not. This one is 1908 and is possibly the prototype http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Fiat_Tipo_1_1908.jpg. This reference is not correct http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_1 because the Fiat tipo 1 continued through the teens using the Tipo Zero engine of about 1800cc and the larger Tipo 2 chassis. I will stand by 1910 as a date unless corrected. |

The single letter "C" was issued by the West Riding of Yorkshire starting in 1904. How long it took them to get to 158 is a matter for speculation, but also people did tend to take their registrations with them when they changed cars, which produces dating anomalies. When West Yorkshire, as it is now called, got to C 9999 they were issued with "WU" "WY" and "YG", the logic of which is hard to see, but that's what happened. -- Last edit: 2008-07-23 10:44:31 |

Also in Poirot episode 9.01 I believe as "AL 2839", "C 158" is now on an Audi A6. Registration number: AL 2839 Make: Fiat (re-)registered 1992 Year of Manufacture: 1912 |
