I can't believe how gormless the dad is in this film. Especially considering he's a high-flying executive. That scene where Ferris is running home and he drives alongside him (Ferris couldn't have been running faster than 15 mph! That's crawling speed for a car!) and he doesn't even notice it's him!! Yeah the dad is a limp one But he has a TRULY hot car for its day, not just a 5000S but a 1985 Audi 5000 turbo (Snookie, poster above, says it's a 1985 and I'm not sure how to tell the difference btw 1984 and 1985 from the outside). The '84 model, basically identical (Audi 200 turbo in Europe) at that time was THE FASTEST PRODUCTION SEDAN, ~ 140 mph IIRC, and I think close to, if not the lowest, Cd anyone had achieved in a production sedan. I'm not sure but I do remember it was groundbreaking. Audi caught M-B and BMW with their pants down (ein Audi?? Verdammt noch mal!) and started the bhp/torque race that was pretty much directly responsible for the M-B 560SEL and the BMW V-12's of the late '80's and 1990's (thank you, Audi!!). (Personal note) I remember being impressed when the movie came out, the 5000 turbo was kind of a sleeper car with performance cred but not widely known in USA Considering the Ferrari/Alfa sedan remarks above, dontcha think that the persons placing the autos must have been some subtle, extremely sophisticated -- and appreciative -- car guys? |

It seems you are right since in the 3rd thumb, I see an "S" side badge between the front wheel and front passenger door. |

It's a real shame this car's reputation was tarnished at the time due to the unintended acceleration media hoax. Absolutely amazing cars inside and out. |
