Am I right, that the plate of the Rolls is so badly faked as the plate from the Mercedes? |

Yes. |

It looks like it was made up for the movie, to me. Font looks nearly right but letter-number combination is wrong for the UK. Any idea what country is it supposed to be? The production company must know it was wrong for the UK. -- Last edit: 2007-09-27 17:10:55 |

Supposed to be a US army base in West Germany, but filmed in England. |

O.k., Iceland, this fits. So the guy on the right is a member of the mysterious, rarely seen, ethnic minority of "Icelandic Brahmans" - a minority so small like "Marmite-lovers in Germany" |

The only reference I can find is for T-numbers / Licence Plates for BAOR (British Forces) cars abroad? I know something of the registration process in Germany (from the 1980s) for BAOR cars but does T-plates mean anything you? |

T-numbers were also used in Austria, Tirol. If I remember right, the 3 in 93 would indicate the region around Imst. But I think they had small hyphens and a slightly different font |

@Sunbar: That's a new one on me. Before they issued (for security reasons) either British or German civilian plates to BAOR-owned vehicles, the registrations always ended in B. @DynaMike: Yes, I remember those plates, but you're right - they looked nothing like this. I've tried unsuccessfully to find a Tirol plate, but the bottom line of this lot includes Vorarlberg and Oberösterreich versions of the plates you had in mind. -- Last edit: 2007-09-27 22:18:57 |

Actually both of them are Afghani. The guy on the right, Gobinda, is just pretty traditional. -- Last edit: 2008-05-27 22:17:09 |

Might it be a 450 SE with those headlight wipers? -- Last edit: 2018-03-05 16:38:31 |

Most likely it was a 350 SE. |

Can we narrow down the year based on interior details? And does the rear door window look like a SEL variant? |
◊ 2020-04-08 21:24 |
no, this option was the same for all W116 versions |
◊ 2020-04-08 21:29 |
Probably not, as there weren't really much changes during the production. Best chance would be the paintwork. P.S. @robi: wo Du gerade da bist - Du warst das doch nicht, oder? Link to "m.bild.de" |
