Ingo ◊ 2008-06-06 11:20	Yes, in summer 1972 started the 73-modelyear. It was usual for Volkswagen to start the next modelyear after the summer-vacations, mainly in August. The VW-vacations were connected with the school-holidays of Niedersachsen, the German country where all VW-plants are located, except the factory in Kassel.

In vrijwel alle autojaarboeken (Autotest, Autokampioen, Autovisie) staan lijsten met Nederlandse kentekens en hun jaar van uitgifte. Hoewel je hier alleen maar VP ziet was het logisch dat het een nummer met vier cijfers zou zijn (xx-xx-VP), temeer omdat 1972 klopte met de jaren dat de Volkswagen 412 leverbaar was. Nummers met letters-cijfers-letters (DB-xx-VP) kwamen pas eind 1978, (xx-DB-BB) pas in juni 1999.
DynaMike ◊ 2008-06-06 13:14	I guess, by Ingo's comments, that it should be model year 1973, because of the colour. Indeed, VP was one of the last letter combinations used in 1972, so that would make sense.
