much good information being added to the BMW models today....gif ":)") ~ not questioning the production data... and we have seen similar issues with inordinately long delays between production initiation and release model year pertaining to other series U.S. BMW models also, but the e32 cars showed up advertised and sold in the U.S. first as 1988 models. i had a 1988 735i for a bit too long to forget that it was the "first". 1987 model year U.S. cars were still e23 series, and would have been predominantly 735i models with a few L7 models mixed in. i had the pleasure of owning one of those as well... a much better car than my 1988. either way, we were late to the BMW party again with these, and as a model year, this should be 1988. |

no worries at all... they made it veRy confusing even here, as they started advertising the e32 cars very early in 1987, and selling them well before it would have "made sense" to be selling 1988 models. you've managed to narrow down and correct more BMWs in the last few hours than i could in a week... the thanks go to you. |

@an_unusual_eye: no, not only the Americans have to wait until they got "their" model, also for the RHD-countries the specific versions often aren't available from the beginning of the production. .gif ";)") |
