It is a Dodge P200 Step Van from the late 1960s.

I was just about to say; There's an old mail van IDENTICAL to this one in a junkyard just down the road from my house. It's just rusting away there since 1979 (according to the registration). Same grille, same windshield, everything.

I looked over it one time, and there's a plate in the interior that says "Manufactured by Studebaker."

How can it be a Studebaker zip van doesn't it say Dodge beside the door?

It could be just some molding... I'd like to have info and pictures of that mythical Dodge P200 from somewhere else than here.

There was a Dodge p 200 on E bay recently.

For antp, here is proof that Dodge P-200s do exist and that this is one http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/801/1963dodgep200.jpg/ by the way here is a newer Dodge P-200 Link to "media.photobucket.com" however I also found this (clearly with a Chevrolet logo on the front) /vehicle_41401-Chevrolet-Step-Van-P-30.html witch also looks similar.

1st link: it is the pic posted there: /vehicle.php?id=300628
according to comment it would be right, sure, but that is still weak as info (and we found so many wrong ebay auctions)
2nd link: it looks completely different
3rd link: it is chevrolet, ok, does that prove that others are dodge? :??: this would rather give the hint that we should list all these as Chevrolet Step Van until we have more info...

I know the secant link does not match, that was just proof that Dodge P 200s do exist.

By the way both this one /vehicle_18536-Studebaker-Zip-Van.html and this one /vehicle_158152-Studebaker-Zip-Van.html are Chevys or Dodges, but this one /vehicle_16630-Studebaker-Zip-Van-1964.html this one /vehicle_33220-Dodge-P-200-1969.html and maybe this one /vehicle_112513-Studebaker-Zip-Van-1963.html are Studebaker Zip vans.

I added the other pictures from that auction. I saved it in June, so it was probably listed in March (I save links each week, but I usually don't review them until they are about to expire). I usually don't look at the trucks, but this one looked different, and matched a van I submitted for Moonlighting.

It does not proof anything, it is just a photobucked pic uploaded by someone under that name.
A proof would be the scan of a brochure or an ad.

Here's what e-bay has on brochures for Dodge Forward Control Vans. The 1964 and 1970 brochures show many different configurations, though none have this reverse Z-windshield. Some have matching grills and trim pieces to some of the vans that were listed as Studebakers.

Its really confusing how one on E-bay was referred to as a 1963 Dodge P-200, while a nearly identical one was referred clearly had a Chevrolet logo on it, I am beginning to think that a certain manufacturer of step van bodys makes identical one for both Chevrolet and Dodge chassis, the only question remains is what the name of the body manufacturer is?

In fact this van was produced by Swift Body Company from Sandusky, Michigan. Could have chassis from GMC, Chevrolet or Ford.

Then - Swift Step Van. ;)

I know this is really old but the answer to the question is Gerstenslager. I used to have a 1963 Dodge step van with Gerstenslager body. It was a retired postal van. I bought it in 1973 in San Francisco from a couple of hippies that came to the city from Michigan. We made it into a camper to drive around the country. I sold it in Seattle in 1981.
The only picture I have of it [Image: truckfront.jpg]
I made window screen to put over the bottom front windows to keep the bugs out at night.
Even though this is a picture of the back of a 1959 it is exactly as I remember my 1963. Link to "www.ebay.com"
