'Wandsworth' ambulance body, named I believe, after the London borough where it was first used. |

Hi, just to add to detail of this type of ambulance. 'Wandsworth' is the London Borough which the London County Council had it's workshops. The chasis and running gear Austin and Morris LD's which have an Allard De Dion axle, designed to reduce floor height to 'payload' area. The body and rear axle was designed and fabricated specifically by the LCC to replace the fleet of daimler ambulances. I own the 'wandsworth' used in 'Carry on Matron' and 'Some mothers do have em' |
