Car No 18 is the 1953 Le Mans winner. It is being driven by Duncan Hamilton (Tony Rolt was the co-driver). The windscreen was broken when Hamilton hit a bird; the bird also broke his nose! |

Without the chassis number we can't know which C type this is. It's certainly not the ex-Hamilton car. |

No trace found for any C-type TUF 303 which is surprising for a current car. The other possibility is a modified XK120 in period or modern, but no easy way to pursue; plate check sites simply state Jaguar XK. Very interesting - means that this C-type is a replica (eg Lynx? Proteus? etc) built on what was a red XK140 (as ex-owner statement and photo details). But 1952 (DVLA date) is too early for XK 140, which was launched autumn 54. -- Last edit: 2012-04-09 23:19:29 |
