Rather Grumman-Olson

This is not a Grumman Olson Kurbmaster or Kabmaster, it is an aluminum body made by the now defunct Union City Body Company.

Why? Van with the same body is sold as Chevrolet with Grumman body:

Seems, that vans with this type of body (mostly not described) and with grill from Chevrolet/GMC were marketed as Chevrolet Step Van/GMC Value Van:

But problem is with these with mesh grill. Some of them are described as Chevrolet Step Van/GMC Value Van:

http://twentywheels.com/view/11177-1988_chevrolet_p30_step_van.html
Link to "www.thetruthaboutcars.com" (different body, but similar grill)

But here are described under the Utilimaster brand:

http://www.usedstepvan.com/stepvan-history.htm

But none of them is described as Union City van.

Chevrolet P-1500 UCBC

No P-1500 for Chevrolet, as this 4-digit model name were specific to GMC until 1980, when the Value Van P-1500 ½-ton model was dropped from the line.
This one has the wheel rims and dual rear wheels of a 1-ton version (Chevrolet Step-Van P-30 / GMC Value Van P-3500). The rounded horizontal bar above the wheel arch indicates an aluminum body.

IMCDb habits give it the Chevrolet make by default.

Safer will be list this van and others similar as UCBC Step Vans with proper chassis code - but only when chassis is known (apart from Chevrolet and GMC could be also International, Freightliner, Oshkosh, etc)

This van looks like all standard GM P-Series step vans with just an after market grille (or it could also indicate a P-Series with a body made by another coachbuilder than UCBC). As explained here, the UCBC body was the standard one for the Chevrolet Step-Vans / GMC Value Vans from 1968 until the early 1990s, so it's really useless to emphasize on it.

Anyway, UCBC wasn't a chassis builder until the late 1990s, when the company bought GM's chassis division, so having it as make for a step van made before would be inaccurate.

It got damaged when Jerry’s mechanic kept throwing JFK’s golf clubs at it.
