For several reasons I would go for a 1949/1950 Morris Oxford MO rather than a Morris Minor.1.The picture clearly shows that this unit is a four door sedan with rear door cutout visible. 2.As the other pictures in this documentary the setting seems to be the 1949 or 1950 Monte Carlo Rally , run in january.3 .At this time four door Morris Minors were normally not yet readily available ( they became end 50).4. The belt line molding is covered by a chrome trim.5. The rear window area seems rather smaller in relation to the roof line than it looked on the Minor.A listing of the 49 and 50 Monte enries would help to be certain. |

Agreed its not a Morris Minor. However I believe its probably a 1949 Wolseley 6/80 with the chrome trim. (This being based on the same body as the Oxford). I think even the Morris Oxfords had plain metal mouldings without the chrome. ![]() -- Last edit: 2007-08-06 15:30:27 |

Yes, definitely not a Morris Minor, which has a more roundish top end of the boot lid.![]() With the chrome around the rear window this is not a Morris Oxford MO, but a Wolseley 6/80 ... or possibly a Morris Six MS. Oxford: ![]() 6/80: ![]() Six: n/a |

This is without doubt the rear screen of a Wolseley 6/80 due to the chrome trim fitted around the rear screen. The Morris Oxford (MO), Morris Six (MS) and Wolseley 4/50 of the same production period (1948-1954) were not fitted with this extra trim, so only the rear screen rubber itself was visable on these models. |

1951 or earlier from rally plates, which displayed the year from 1952. Other cars in this film are definitely the 1951 rally. |

Agreed for the Morris duo, but 4/50 originally had same chrome trim around rear window as 6/80 - see comments here /vehicle_763571-Wolseley-4-50-1949.html . Both 4/50 and 6/80 restored survivors today may not have chrome trim due to parts non-availability. Very likely to be 1951 Monte entry N°250 Wolseley 6/80 - JL Finigan /EJ Morris (oh the irony!), finished 120th. ![]() PJO 242 was late 1950 plate. -- Last edit: 2014-12-10 17:50:37 |
