Alexander ◊ 2005-10-10 21:27	See the special rear bumper. It seems they did not want to ruin the Merc! Here you can see that this was only done for the crash shot. Probably Hitchcock wanted it for himself. He no longer wanted to go by bus!

Alexander ◊ 2006-10-22 00:01	The definition for four stars is: 'Vehicle used a lot by a main character or that has an important role'. And this car (as well as the expolding truck) are important for the plot of the film and the main character. Therefore four stars are fully justified.
wickey ◊ 2006-10-22 00:24	I seriously doubt above stated importance of the exploding truck, it had very little impact on the following events. On the other hand, the importance of the Mercedes convertible for the following events is considerable. My rating: Mercedes *, White-Freightliner .

Well that's my bad English translation What I wanted to mean by "important" is that it is seen a lot. Like a major character: you see it a lot in the movie, or at least a lot in a long major scene. Kindacool ◊ 2012-01-19 14:36	Is it me or does there seem to be some kind of structure under the Mercedes' trunk pointing down in a 45°angle from the bumper ? Looks as if they might have had constructed something like a buffer-stop that was bolted to the ground, tacked the Mercedes' bumper to it and parked the Mercedes itself as close as possible on the safe side of the stop. Thus, the Ford would actually never have hit the Mercedes, but just a well hidden buffer. I also do not remember the Mercedes jerking forward an inch when the Ford hit her, or did it ? -- Last edit: 2012-01-19 14:47:08
